The production process, structure, performance, use and price of the two are completely different. To put it simply: seamless pipes are perforated and drawn from a whole piece of steel, while welded pipes are rolled and welded by steel plates.
1. Production process
Seamless steel pipe
Solid round steel billet→heating→piercing→hot rolling/cold drawing/cold rolling forming
There are no welds in the whole process, and the whole is a complete round tube.
Welded steel pipe (welded pipe)
Steel strip/steel plate→rolled into cylinder→high frequency welding/submerged arc welded into tube
The pipe wall has a longitudinal weld (straight seam welded pipe) and part of it is a spiral weld.
2. Structure and sealing
Seamless pipe: no welds, better sealing, pressure resistance, crack resistance, and less prone to leakage.
Welded pipe: There is a weld, and the weld area is the weak point, with slightly lower pressure resistance and fatigue resistance.
